About this care
Welcome to BSO Dikkertje Dap, located at Harpstraat 13a in the centre of Arkel. We are part of Stichting Wasko and provide after-school care for up to 40 children in primary school groups 1 through 8.
Before and after school, children can both burn off energy and recharge with us. We are known for our wide and varied activity programme, supported by the DoenKids activity library. The children themselves – together with our pedagogical staff – decide which activities they want to do, because they know best what excites them. There is always something fun and educational for every age.
A special feature of our location is the spacious, professionally equipped kitchen with cooking island. For children aged 7 and older, cooking and baking are central every day. They prepare healthy snacks or small meals themselves, while playfully practising maths, language and cooperation.
We are also allowed to use the adjacent school playgrounds, where children can climb and clamber to their heart’s content. Of course, there is also room to unwind after a busy school day; reading in the corner, playing a game or simply relaxing.
Everything we do is based on a positive approach. We believe that children develop better this way and that their self-confidence grows. We look at each child’s talents, monitor their development and offer targeted guidance during the time they spend with us.

Summary
The Municipal Health Service (GGD) conducted an unannounced annual inspection on 28 January 2026 at after-school care (BSO) Dikkertje Dap in Arkel, part of Wasko kinderopvang. The location provides care for 40 children divided across two base groups (ages 4-7 and 7-13). Although the pedagogical quality, accommodation, and most organisational aspects were satisfactory, the location did not have a parent committee at the time of inspection despite this being legally required with more than 50 registered children (67 children were enrolled). The GGD issued a recovery offer which the provider accepted. Within the set timeframe, a combined parent committee of 5 members was formed, resolving the shortcoming on 13 March 2026. Following the recovery offer, the location meets all assessed conditions.
