KiddieBot is Kiddie.nl's crawler. It visits the websites of childcare organisations to read the hourly rates they publish. It identifies itself with the user agent KiddieBot/1.0 (+https://www.kiddie.nl/bot).
What KiddieBot collects
Only rates an organisation publishes openly: hourly prices per type of care and package, as shown on its rates page or in the calculator on its own website. KiddieBot fills in no forms, logs in nowhere and collects no personal data.
Why
Parents use the calculator on Kiddie.nl to work out what childcare costs after childcare benefit. That is only right with the current hourly rate. Whenever a rate was collected by KiddieBot, we show its tariff year, its source and the date we last checked it.
How KiddieBot behaves
KiddieBot follows robots.txt, both for the name KiddieBot and for *. It makes at most one request per second to a website, never several at once, and reads only a limited number of pages per organisation. It never pretends to be an ordinary browser.
Opting out
Don't want KiddieBot to visit your website? Add this to your robots.txt:
User-agent: KiddieBot Disallow: /
You can also email info@kiddie.nl with your organisation's name and KvK number. We will switch collection off and keep your request on record.
Managing your own rates
Run a childcare location? Claim it on Kiddie.nl and enter your own rates. KiddieBot does not overwrite rates you enter yourself for twelve months, and your own rates are shown without a source label.
