How we calculate your monthly costs

  1. For each childcare day, we use the package's contract hours, hourly rate and number of weeks. We divide annual costs by 12, so after-school care with holiday weeks also has one average monthly amount.
  2. Childcare benefit depends on your assessment income and entitlement. We use the official rules for your chosen year, including the maximum hours and hourly rates.
  3. Gross costs minus childcare benefit is the amount you pay. You can see every price line, the hours and rate caps, and the benefit calculation. Discounts and extras are not included.

Frequently asked questions about the calculator

Will the calculation match my invoice?

We use standard rates for full contract days until closing time, divided into 12 equal months. Discounts, alternating weeks, half days, before-school care, meals, transport and municipal contributions are excluded. Check your individual contract with the provider.

How does after-school care work during school holidays?

For after-school care (BSO), you can usually choose between a 52-week package (including school holidays) or a 40-week package (excluding school holidays). During holiday days, after-school care is open all day. These packages have a different hourly rate and are calculated so that you pay the same amount every month. The difference can sometimes be small; check the calculation for your situation.

Why can some locations not be calculated?

We need a complete hourly rate, number of weeks and contract hours for each requested day. Without these, we do not estimate a price. The calculator only supports daycare and after-school care, not childminders or childminder agencies.

Can I calculate costs for more than one child?

On a location page you can add up to six children, each with their own package and weekdays. The first child in the benefit table is the child with the most childcare hours, not necessarily the oldest. The nearby comparison covers one child.
