About this care
Welcome to BSO Vreewijk, part of KindeRdam Childcare.
Our after-school care is located in Kindcentrum Vreewijk at Beukendaal 191 in Rotterdam. We provide care for children aged 4 to 12 who attend primary school. Our pedagogical staff pick up children from various schools in the area after school and bring them to our location.
At BSO Vreewijk, the child is central. We offer a homely and safe environment where children can relax after a day at school. Our activities are tailored to the age and development of the child. We regularly organize creative activities such as crafts and building, but also sports activities outside in our spacious garden. Additionally, we regularly go on excursions in the Vreewijk district and surrounding areas.
Our team consists of enthusiastic and professional pedagogical staff who guide children in their development. We work closely with schools in the area and together with the daycare and toddler care form a child center where children aged 0-13 are welcome.
During school holidays, we provide full-day care from 7:30 AM to 6:30 PM. We then provide a varied program with fun activities and outings. During holidays, we also collaborate with other KindeRdam after-school care locations in the district, such as BSO De Kantine and BSO Buitengewoon, under the name BSO Vakantieland.
BSO Vreewijk is there for all children in the Vreewijk district and surrounding areas. We value parent involvement and therefore work with an active parent committee that functions as a district parent committee for all KindeRdam locations in Vreewijk.Read more

Strengths
- Pedagogical policy and practice are assessed positively
- Staff communicate sensitively and responsively with children

- Store tools directly in a closed case, do not leave them loose on the workbench
Violations
- Between 11 March and 19 June 2025, no qualified first aider was present at the after-school care (BSO) location during multiple periods, because the certificate had expired (10 March 2025) and a new certificate was only obtained on 20 June 2025
- Loose tools (saw, hammer, screwdriver) on a workbench while younger children under 7 years were present, while this risk was listed as 'excluded' in the risk assessment
Summary
The annual inspection of BSO Vreewijk in Rotterdam shows a largely positive picture. The pedagogical quality is well assessed: staff communicate respectfully with children, provide emotional safety, and encourage independence. Personnel matters are also in order, including qualifications, Certificates of Good Conduct (VOG), and staff-to-child ratios. However, one violation was identified in the area of safety and health. Between March and June 2025, there was no qualified first aider present at the after-school care (BSO) location during multiple periods, because the employee's certificate had expired and a new certificate was only obtained later. The holder referred to the qualified staff present at the adjacent daycare center (kinderdagverblijf/KDV), but this does not meet the legal requirement for the BSO itself. Loose tools were also found on a workbench while younger children were present. The Municipal Health Service (GGD) advises the municipality of Rotterdam to enforce.
