About this care
Welcome to KDV ’t Hobbelpaard, located in the charming and characteristic building ‘De Schoel’ at Hogeweg 30 in Zuidlaren. As part of SkidKinderopvang, we provide children aged 0 to 4 with a safe, homely place where they can discover who they are and what they can do through play. Our location is the former village hall – and before that the primary school – of the Schuilingsoord district, creating a warm, familiar atmosphere that immediately makes children and parents feel at home.
We work with five vertical groups: the Bolle Beren, Coole Kikkers, Kakelende Kippen, Rollende Rupsen and the Vrolijke Vossen (toddler-preschool group). This setup allows children of different ages to play and learn together. They practise social skills such as making friends, sharing and taking others into account. At the same time, we stimulate language development by reading aloud, singing songs, playing games and during daily moments such as eating sandwiches. In this way, children learn to use words in a natural context.
Outside, we have a very large and challenging outdoor area that is completely fenced. Children can safely romp, build sandcastles and get to know nature here. We make seasonal and festive themes visible in crafts, songs and games, allowing children to learn to count, recognise days and understand the world around them through play.
Our enthusiastic team guides each child individually. We closely monitor development and tailor activities to what the child needs. By achieving the Green Childcare quality mark, we also demonstrate our commitment to a sustainable, healthy environment in which children can grow.

Summary
Daycare center (kinderdagverblijf/KDV) 't Hobbelpaard in Zuidlaren (SKID kinderopvang) was inspected unannounced on 17 September 2025. The annual supervision focused on pedagogical climate, staff/groups, safety & health, and parental rights. All assessed quality requirements are being met: the pedagogical policy is elaborated in three documents, staff work in accordance with it, early childhood education (voorschoolse educatie/VE) is set up according to plan with at least 16 hours per week, the Startblokken method, certified early education professionals (3F language, 1:8 ratio, max. 16 children), and a pedagogical policy officer for early education who provides coaching and policy support. Safety and health policy, domestic violence reporting protocol, first aid provisions, and rules regarding Certificates of Conduct/personnel registry are in order. Parents are informed via website, intake, newsletter, and parent portal; a joint parent committee with the after-school care (BSO) is active, and a complaints procedure and registration with the Disputes Committee are in place. No complaints have been received. No violations or areas for improvement identified.
