About this care
Welcome to Kikkerkroost, our small-scale daycare centre located at Boeninlaan 286 in Amsterdam Zuidoost. We provide loving care for up to 33 children aged 0–4 years. Our focus is on independence and language development: “teach me to do it myself” is our guiding principle.
Every child is known by name to our qualified pedagogical staff, and the children know each member in return. This close bond gives babies and toddlers the security they need to explore the world confidently. We organise children in horizontal groups, so activities and care match each developmental stage precisely.
The day runs from 7.00 a.m. to 6.30 p.m. In the morning, children who wish receive freshly topped bread – they choose and spread the toppings themselves. Healthy snacks such as yoghurt or fresh fruit are offered throughout the day. At lunchtime we serve a warm, nutritious meal packed with hidden vegetables. Halal or vegetarian options are available on request; simply let us know during the intake.
Our specialities are movement and digitalisation. Indoors, children can climb the climbing wall, build in themed playhouses, or get creative with painting and crafts. Outdoors, a secure garden with play equipment invites them to run, slide and tumble to their hearts’ content. Songs, stories and constant conversation stimulate language development all day long.
Everything is included: nappies, baby formula/bottle feeding, warm lunch, snacks and care products. Parents do not need to bring anything extra. We also work with the Dutch childcare allowance, significantly reducing the actual cost for families.

- The pedagogical policy plan is not implemented regarding emotional safety, stability of care, and consistent caregivers
- No responsible daycare is provided: insufficient sensitive and responsive care, insufficient structure and security for children
- Insufficient consistent caregivers for children under 1 year: in group 't Kikkernest there is structurally no permanent staff member present
- Insufficient consistent caregivers for children aged 1 and older: in group Kikkerpoel there is never a consistent caregiver on Fridays, in group Kikkerwei not on Thursdays and Fridays
- The consistent caregiver criterion is structurally violated without lawful exemption; self-employed workers (zzp'ers) are deployed as consistent caregivers
- The safety and health policy is not implemented: self-employed workers (zzp'ers) are not familiar with the policy
- Hand and diaper changing hygiene is not carried out according to policy: no cleaning of the changing mat after each use, reuse of gloves, cleaning a child's face with dirty gloves
Summary
The Municipal Health Service (GGD) conducted an incidental inspection at daycare center (kinderdagverblijf/KDV) Komplayt kikkerkroost in Amsterdam on 18 June 2026. The inspection followed previous enforcement procedures in which multiple violations had been identified. The investigation reveals a worrying picture: the care is insufficiently stable and the emotional safety of children is under pressure. There are structurally too few permanent staff members, many self-employed workers (zzp'ers) are deployed without knowledge of the policy, and supervision at the location is inadequate due to the absence of managers. In all groups, the legal requirements for consistent caregivers are not being met. The safety and health policy is also not being implemented, as evidenced by unhygienic diaper changing practices. The GGD advises the municipality of Amsterdam to enforce.
