Strengths
- Health and safety policy is complete and well implemented
- Staff hold appropriate qualifications and Certificates of Good Conduct (VOG)
- Accommodation is suitably furnished with sufficient indoor and outdoor play space
- The location manager fulfills an active exemplary role and provides support to the team
- The organization invests in coaching and professional development of staff
- At the second inspection visit, the atmosphere was relaxed and children were well engaged
Shortcomings
- Ensure all staff have full access to the digital policy system SharePoint
- Describe explicitly in the pedagogical policy how deviations from the staff-child ratio between 5:30 and 6:30 PM will be handled, should this occur in the future
- Make the internship policy for staff in training transparent to parents as well
- Publish the location on the organization's website
- Continue monitoring whether the improved working method has been structurally embedded
Violations

- Pedagogical practice was inadequate: children sat for too long at a time, circle time was too long, insufficient role division between staff, directive correction, insufficient attunement to children's needs (Articles 1.49/1.50 of the Childcare Act; Article 2 of the Childcare Quality Decree)
Summary
De Blokkenhut II B.V. is a new daycare center (kinderdagverblijf/KDV) in Amsterdam that opened on 1 January 2026. During the annual inspection on 26 March 2026, two violations were identified: an incomplete pedagogical policy (missing continuous developmental line with after-school care/BSO) and inadequate pedagogical practice (circle time too long, children made to sit for too long, insufficient role division, directive correction). Both violations were lifted following a recovery offer. The team consists of a location manager, one qualified staff member, and one staff member in training. At the follow-up visit on 7 May 2026, the team demonstrated improved pedagogical practice. Safety, health, staff qualifications, and accommodation did comply.
