About this care
Kindcentrum De Stern is located at two addresses in the Park16hoven district: the daycare centre is at Woensdrechtstraat 11 and the toddler care and after-school care at Woensdrechtstraat 9A. We provide childcare for children aged 0 to 4 in a homely, natural environment where they learn from and with each other. Our pedagogical approach is inspired by anthroposophy: calm, rhythm and regularity are central. Each day follows a clear structure in which children can choose to play, craft, sing or help in the vegetable garden. We bake fresh bread together and use vegetables and fruit from our own garden. Artistic activities such as dance, handicrafts, painting, drama and music are offered every week, alongside plenty of outdoor play in and with nature. The seasons set the rhythm of our year; we celebrate seasonal festivals and teach children to recognise the passage of time. Early childhood education is delivered through the “Speelplezier” programme, creating a continuous learning path from childcare to primary education. Our pedagogical staff are conscious of their role model function and give children every opportunity to develop their talents. Strengths
- The specific shortcomings from the previous inspection have been resolved

Summary
Kindcentrum De Stern in Rotterdam, part of KindeRdam Kinderopvang B.V., was re-inspected on 22 September 2026 due to a previously identified violation of the safety and health policy. The follow-up inspection shows that the location still does not meet legal requirements. Although the specific shortcomings from the previous inspection of 3 June 2026 have been resolved, new safety risks have been identified. The fire door is being used incorrectly during outdoor play and indoor activities, and the sheep fencing in the outdoor play area shows serious defects with sharp splinters and missing bars. In addition, a substitute staff member is unaware of location-specific safety agreements. Following the visit, the location manager announced measures, including repair of the fencing, better visibility of agreements, and vests for toddlers in the schoolyard. The Municipal Health Service (GGD) advises the municipality of Rotterdam to enforce.
