About this care
De Rotterdamse Peuterschool, location Park16hoven is situated in Overschie, within the building of primary school Park16hoven. We provide toddler care for children aged 2 to 4 years. Our toddlers play and learn in a safe, familiar environment that perfectly matches the world of young children. We follow the VVE programme of the municipality of Rotterdam, with themes such as seasons, emotions and the immediate environment. Through play we stimulate language and speech development, social-emotional growth, motor skills and sensory perception.
Outdoor play is central to our approach. Our naturally designed outdoor space invites climbing, clambering and building sandcastles. We believe that being outdoors and moving are essential for healthy development. For parents who wish, we offer extended toddler care. Children from 3 years old can then stay longer to play and learn with their friends. We tailor our activities to what the children enjoy and need, with extra attention for language development and challenging games.
The collaboration with primary school Park16hoven is intensive. Children become familiar with the school environment at an early age and get used to the structure of a school day. The location offers 16 places, works with the Uk & Puk programme and meets all quality requirements in the areas of development, safety and parent information. There is one point for improvement: no parent committee is active and there is insufficient visibility of how parents are involved in policy matters for which they have advisory rights. Following the inspection visit, the location manager indicated that she informs parents via email and newsletters and offers them the opportunity to have their say. There is no violation, but rather an area of attention. The municipality is advised not to enforce.
