Welcome to de Knuffelbeer – Kempenaer, our toddler day-care located in community centre De Kempenaer at Dr Wumkeslaan 4, Heerenveen. We run a toddler group for children aged 2.5 to 4. We offer toddler care with a VVE programme in which ‘Bas in de klas’, together with his friends Tyme the bear and Tomke, playfully guides the children in language, numeracy and social skills. Each morning from 8:30 to 12:30 centres on a new theme with matching vocabulary, songs and discovery tasks. Extended care until 14:00 is also possible. The children also learn Frisian words from Tomke. Our qualified staff provide a safe, loving environment where curiosity and creativity are encouraged. GGD Fryslân conducted an unannounced incidental inspection at daycare center (kinderdagverblijf/KDV) de Knuffelbeer - Kempenaer in Heerenveen on 23 March 2026. The inspection took place in the context of an operator change: the legal structure is changing from sole proprietorship to private limited company (besloten vennootschap/BV). The location provides toddler care for 32 children (ages 2-4) in two core groups and delivers subsidised early childhood education. All assessed areas meet statutory requirements: changes were reported in a timely manner, administration is complete, a pedagogical policy and safety and health policy are in place, the operator and board members are registered in the Childcare Personnel Register, and there is affiliation with the Childcare Disputes Committee. The GGD advises the municipality of Heerenveen to approve the amendment request in the National Childcare Register. The location has a history of violations in 2023-2025, but these are not relevant to the current inspection.
