About this care
Welcome to Kindercentrum Het Buitenhuis, located at Frieswijkerweg 6 in Schalkhaar. We provide childcare for children aged 0 to 5 years in a unique green environment. Our location covers more than one hectare and features two large enclosed gardens, a stream and a small beach. Children spend a lot of time playing outdoors and we regularly take trips to the heath or nearby forests.
Since September 2018 we have been offering the Buitenklas: a special concept for children aged 3.5 to 5 years. Our groups are intentionally small and the pedagogical staff are familiar faces, ensuring that each child receives personal attention. We believe it is important for children to grow up in a safe and familiar environment, with outdoor play and nature experience at the heart of our approach.

Summary
Het Buitenhuis is a small-scale daycare center (kinderdagverblijf/KDV) just outside Schalkhaar with 18 places, housed in a residential home where the residents are also the owners and professional staff. The Municipal Health Service (GGD) conducted an unannounced annual inspection on 27 August 2025. All assessed components β general quality conditions and compliance, safety and health, and parental rights β meet the requirements of the Childcare Act. The safety and health policy is documented in writing and up to date; risks such as water on the premises and ticks in the forest have been mapped and accompanied by concrete measures, including daily tick checks. There is always an adult present with a valid first-aid certificate. The domestic violence and child abuse reporting protocol is complete and discussed within the team, including app accessibility. Parents are informed and involved in various ways (parent evenings, satisfaction surveys, newsletters, parent portal). The complaints procedure is proper and the location is affiliated with the Childcare Disputes Committee (Geschillencommissie Kinderopvang). No violations or areas for improvement were identified. The GGD advises the municipality of Deventer not to take enforcement action.
