About this care
Welcome to De Zeepaardjes, our intimate daycare centre located at Noordzoom 119 in Marknesse. We are part of the Stichting Kinderopvang Noordoostpolder and provide care for up to 16 children aged 0 to 4 years. In our vertical group, children of different ages learn to play together and grow from each other.
At De Zeepaardjes, we work with a fixed daily structure that provides peace and regularity. We start the day with free play, followed by a circle activity where we read aloud, sing and make music. The children enjoy fresh fruit and drinks. Afterwards, we work in small groups on activities that match their developmental level. In between, there is time for diaper changes and free play in the corners.
Our pedagogical staff offer toddler gym every week, where children develop their motor skills through play. We do crafts, use sensory materials and regularly go outside to play in our garden. Fresh air and nature are important elements in our daily activities.
During lunch, the children eat bread together, after which the youngest children sleep in our quiet sleeping areas. The older children can play quietly or look at a book. In the afternoon, there is another circle activity with reading aloud, singing and music. We end the day with outdoor play and free play until parents pick up their children.
Our team consists of qualified pedagogical staff who provide a safe and stimulating environment every day. We are open to all children and find it important that every child feels welcome. Involvement and personal attention are highly valued by us.Read more

Strengths
- The response following the disappearance was carried out in accordance with protocol: staff members knew how to respond, a search was initiated immediately, and an incident report was filed
- Staff members apply correct safety procedures in daily situations (going outside, outdoor play), such as walking ropes, vests, cones, and locking the lockable gate
- The operator has drawn up improvement points for future events on their own initiative
- The operator contacted the primary school immediately to arrange structural modifications to the fencing

At the time of the incident, the group room door and exterior door were open, and the fencing around the playground was not fully lockable, allowing a child to leave the premises unnoticed
Summary
Daycare center De Zeepaardjes (kinderdagverblijf) in Marknesse was subject to an unannounced incidental investigation by Municipal Health Service (GGD) Flevoland on 18 June 2026, following a report that a child had left the premises unnoticed and walked home on 11 June 2026 during a teachers' party. The inspection demonstrates that the safety and health policy was not being complied with at the time of the incident: the group room door, exterior door, and the incompletely closed fencing provided insufficient protection. The staff members had not noticed the child leaving. It is positive that the response following the disappearance was carried out in accordance with protocol, and that the operator drew up improvement points for future events on their own initiative. Work is also underway to install lockable fencing around the outdoor play area, expected to be completed before 1 September 2026. The supervisory body recommends no enforcement action due to the operator's proactive attitude.

Dit is een christelijke basisschool, met veel speeltoestellen op het plein. Ook heb ik gezien dat er nieuwe speeltoestellen zijn geplaatst.
