About this care
BSO Theo Thijssen is part of Quadrant kindercentra and is located on the grounds of Theo Thijssen primary school at Kerkweg-Oost 230 in Waddinxveen. We provide after-school care for children aged 4 to 12 who attend the primary school. Our location is spacious and accommodates up to 40 children.
After school, our pedagogical staff pick up the children from their classrooms and bring them to our BSO room. A healthy meal is served first: fresh fruit, drinks and a nutritious sandwich. Then it's time for relaxation and play. The children choose what they want to do: crafts, sports, cooking or simply playing outside in our own garden.
We work with fixed group compositions. Younger children (4-7 years) are together in their own group, older children (7-12 years) in another. This allows us to tailor activities to the age and development of the children. Weekly we create an activity schedule including sports tournaments, pizza baking, gardening and creative craft projects.
During school weeks we are open from 14:00 to 18:30. In school holidays we provide care from 07:30 to 18:30. We work closely with Theo Thijssen primary school, ensuring a smooth transition from school to BSO. Our pedagogical staff know the children well and coordinate with teachers when needed.Read more

Summary
The annual inspection of 5 March 2026 of after-school care (BSO) Theo Thijssen in Waddinxveen presents a predominantly positive picture. The after-school care, part of Stichting Quadrant, accommodates a maximum of 20 children aged 4 to 6 years on the premises of primary school Theo Thijssen. On two of the three examined domains – pedagogical climate and staff and groups – the location fully meets the quality requirements. The pedagogical practice is characterised by emotional safety, personal attention, and stimulation of children. For safety and health, a shortcoming was initially identified: the safety and health policy described insufficiently concrete measures for preventing children from going missing, while the physical situation with open doors, gates, and an opening in a separation fence posed an increased risk. Following a recovery offer on 3 April 2026, the holder tightened the policy with concrete measures, physical adjustments, and clear agreements. The shortcoming has been resolved. The Municipal Health Service (GGD) advises no enforcement action.
