About this care
Welcome to BSO Madelief, located at Hoge Rijndijk 13 in the charming Professorenwijk area of Leiden. Our after-school care is part of Flowerkids Childcare and offers children aged 4 to 12 a familiar place to play, explore, and relax after school.
Our BSO is housed in a historic mansion with distinctive spaces tailored to different age groups. The third floor is dedicated to children aged 4 to 7, featuring a doll corner, LEGO room, reading nook, arts and crafts area, and even an aquarium. The second floor caters to children aged 8 to 12 and includes a dance and drama studio, a computer room, an art studio, and a games room. This allows children to engage at their own level and discover their interests.
We believe it's important for children to feel safe and at home with us. Our pedagogical staff provide personal attention and support the children in their development. Additionally, we offer the option of a warm meal, including choices for children with allergies, so parents don’t have to worry about lunch or dinner.

Summary
The Municipal Health Service (GGD) conducted an unannounced annual inspection on 28 July 2026 at after-school care (BSO) Madelief in Leiden, part of Flowerkids Leiden B.V. The location provides care for 56 children aged 4 to 13 years in a former residential home in the Professorenwijk neighbourhood. All assessed quality requirements in the areas of pedagogical climate, staff and groups, and safety and health were fully met. The pedagogical practice showed strong points: staff members have warm, trusting relationships with children, encourage independence, and guide play in a respectful manner. All formal requirements regarding Certificates of Good Conduct (VOGs), persons register, qualification requirements, staff-child ratios, and mentor structure are also in order. No areas for improvement or violations were identified. The holder indicated in their response that they agree with the report. The GGD advises the municipality not to take enforcement measures.
