Subsidy & costs
Childminder (gastouder) care through ViaViela is formal care, which means parents are entitled to childcare benefit (kinderopvangtoeslag) from the Tax and Customs Administration. This benefit is a contribution towards care costs. ViaViela helps parents understand the net costs after benefit. The bureau offers an online calculation tool to get an indication of your own contribution. The exact amount of the benefit depends on care hours, number of children, and income. ViaViela provides a tailored calculation for parents before care begins.
Childminder (gastouder) care through ViaViela consists of two components: the childminder's hourly rate (on average €6.25 to €8.95 per child per hour) and the bureau fee for placement and guidance (all-in monthly rate, depending on care hours, number of children, and region). ViaViela charges no registration fees. The bureau fee is only charged from the moment care actually begins. After deduction of childcare benefit (kinderopvangtoeslag), net costs can work out to approximately €0.50 per child per hour or more, depending on your personal situation. Trust & screening
Before parents meet a childminder (gastouder), ViaViela has already found and assessed them. All childminders undergo a careful screening and selection procedure. They must hold a Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG) and be registered in the Childcare Personnel Register. ViaViela invests in continuous professional development and provides pedagogical and parenting support to childminders. Care locations are assessed for safety and suitability in accordance with the requirements of the Childcare Act.
ViaViela region Leiden is registered in the National Childcare Register (LRK) under number 837471126 and complies with all statutory quality requirements. The bureau is regularly inspected by the Municipal Health Service (GGD), with inspection reports publicly available. ViaViela holds a Geschilvrij (Dispute-Free) certificate from the Geschillencommissie Kinderopvang (Childcare Disputes Committee). All childminders (gastouders) hold a Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG) and are registered in the Childcare Personnel Register. The bureau has an internal complaints procedure in accordance with the Childcare Act and an active parent committee.

Summary
The annual inspection by GGD Hollands Midden of childminder agency ViaViela Leiden presents a predominantly positive picture. The agency, located on Haarlemmerstraat in Leiden, provides care through 66 affiliated childminders. The inspection on 6 July 2026 assessed three areas: pedagogical policy, personnel, and quality of the childminder agency. Two of the three areas fully met all requirements on initial inspection. A shortcoming was identified in pedagogical practice: the guidance of a childminder with recurring problems was insufficient, as no concrete improvement plan was in place. The provider made use of a recovery offer and subsequently drew up a detailed plan, including a recognised 10-week pedagogical module. Following this recovery, the agency now meets all requirements. The provider is making use of the statutory transition period until 1 July 2027 to obtain the required coaching qualification. The GGD advises the municipality of Leiden not to take enforcement measures.
