About this care

AI
Welcome to SKSG Grootegast, the daycare center in the heart of Grootegast where we provide children aged 0 to 4 with a safe and stimulating environment to grow and develop. Our daycare is part of SKSG, the largest childcare organization in Northern Netherlands with over 100 locations in Groningen and the Westerkwartier region. Our mission is to provide equal opportunities for all children. Our location at Hoofdstraat 81 offers care in two horizontal groups: Jodocus 0-2 for babies and toddlers up to 2 years old, and Jodocus 2-4 for preschoolers aged 2 to 4. The baby group accommodates up to 12 children with three qualified childcare professionals, following the Emmi Pikler approach. This respectful care method supports your child's natural development. We offer 41 and 52-week childcare contracts, flexible care options, and extended care when there's sufficient demand. We're open Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM. Our educational program focuses on six pillars: Sports and Movement, Cooking and Nutrition, Nature and Sustainability, Science and Technology, Arts and Culture, and Hello World! These themes are integrated into our daily activities. Children can choose from various development-oriented activities including Pyramid program activities, free play indoors and outdoors, cooking and baking, creative arts, and nature education. We regularly organize excursions to places like petting zoos or barefoot paths. For toddlers with a VVE (preschool education) indication, we provide additional early childhood education. Our qualified childcare staff have experience with both baby and toddler groups. We maintain consistent daily routines that provide children with structure and security. Parents can participate in our parent committee and we always welcome personal conversations about your child's development.

GGD Inspection

Violations

Inspection date: March 18, 2026

5
Strengths
0
Shortcomings
2
Violations
The location partially meets the statutory quality requirements. Violations were identified in the area of early childhood education, while other areas score well.

Strengths

  • Staff hold valid Certificate of Conduct (VOG) declarations and are registered in the Childcare Personnel Register (PRK)
  • There is an active parent committee with seven members and a valid set of regulations
  • The deployment of the early childhood education (VVE) policy officer is well arranged
  • The number of VVE hours offered meets the statutory minimum requirement of 960 hours
  • Professionals are qualified for early childhood education and have attained language proficiency level 3F

Violations

  • Working in accordance with policy: the VVE programme Piramide was described in the location guide, but was not actually visibly applied in the group
  • Working with a VVE programme: staff were unable to indicate which VVE programme was being used, and the programme was insufficiently visible in practice

Summary

The annual inspection of 18 March 2026 at daycare center (kinderdagverblijf/KDV) SKSG Grootegast showed a mixed picture. The location meets requirements in the areas of staff and groups (VOG and PRK registration), parental rights (parent committee), and deployment of the VVE pedagogical policy officer. However, two violations were identified in the area of early childhood education: working in accordance with policy and working with a VVE programme. Staff and the location manager were unable to indicate which VVE programme was being used, and the Piramide programme was insufficiently visible in practice. The holder stated in their response that internal confusion had arisen due to new forms, and that on 7 May 2026 attention will be given to clarifying the Piramide method. The Municipal Health Service (GGD) advises enforcement.
