About this care
Peutergroep de Singel is part of Stichting Mundo and is located in the beautiful new Integral Child Centre (IKC) de Singel at Singel 5 in Schiedam. We provide toddler care for children aged 2.5 to 4 years during the 40 school weeks. Our classroom is adjacent to Group 1 of the primary school, ensuring a smooth transition later on.
We work thematically; every six weeks we choose a new theme that connects to the children’s world of experience. Examples include discovering fruit and buying it in our vegetable shop, searching for insects in the nature garden, or doing toddler gymnastics together. We stimulate language, motor skills and social development through lots of talking, moving and playing together. We regularly join activities organised by the school and the day-care centre in the same building, such as visiting the after-school care group where an older sibling is present.
Our large green nature garden is an outdoor classroom where children can run, explore and get wonderfully dirty. We share the garden with the primary school and the day-care centre, yet have enough space to organise our own activities. Summary
PG Mundo de Singel in Schiedam, a toddler daycare (peuteropvang) for children aged 2 to 4, applied for an expansion from 16 to 48 childcare places due to the relocation of toddler group De Galilei. The Municipal Health Service (GGD) conducted an unannounced incidental inspection. Although the pedagogical policy, safety policy and outdoor play area are satisfactory, the available group rooms proved insufficient for 48 places. With two rooms of 57 m² each, a maximum of 32 places is feasible, not 48. The new group room still needs to be set up and will be shared with after-school care (BSO). The location manager acknowledged during the discussion that a modification to 32 places would suffice.
