Summary

An unannounced incidental inspection regarding safety and health was conducted on 18 February 2026 at Partou BSO Jan Muschlaan 24 in Utrecht. The inspection followed serious shortcomings at the daycare center (kinderdagverblijf/KDV) in the same building. The after-school care (BSO) was also found to be struggling with an active mouse infestation, with droppings discovered in group rooms, on toys, in the kitchen and in food storage areas. This created acute health risks for children. The provider was found to be taking insufficient care to maintain a current and concrete safety and health policy, with incorrect risk assessments and inadequate hygiene. A seven-day closure order was imposed. Following reassessment on 23 February 2026, during which measures had been taken such as cleaning, new waste bins and pest control, the order was lifted and childcare resumed. However, the violations are not yet assessed as fully resolved due to their structural nature.
