About this care
De Bonte Berg is our after-school care centre in Herten. We are located on the ground floor of Hubertus primary school at Louis Beelstraat 12, right next to the classrooms. This means that when the last school bell rings, children can simply walk down the corridor and step straight into our group. We have room for up to 44 children and are open after school on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday until 18:30. In the mornings we also offer before-school care from 07:30 to 08:30.
We believe children learn most by exploring and experimenting themselves. Therefore we provide space to be active, use imagination and play together. We follow the same pedagogical vision as the rest of Kinderopvang Roermond: children are given trust and freedom so they feel safe to grow. Activities are tailored to what the children themselves indicate: one day it might be a large building project, the next we head out to the playground or cook something tasty in the kitchen.
Because we are literally inside the school building, cooperation with Hubertus is seamless. We know the teachers, we know the children, and we can connect well with what happens at school. There is no care at this location on Wednesday and Friday; on those days we refer families to De Stappers, another BSO of our organisation in Herten. This way care always stays close and familiar.

Summary
BSO De Bonte Berg in Herten, part of Stichting Kinderopvang Roermond, was inspected by Municipal Health Service (GGD) Limburg-Noord on 6 July 2026. The after-school care (BSO) accommodates 44 children aged 4 to 13 years in two base groups, located in primary school Hubertus. The location meets most statutory requirements regarding pedagogical climate, staff, and accommodation. However, one violation was identified: despite more than 50 contracted children being registered (67), it was not possible to establish a parent committee with at least two members. The operator has met the obligation to make efforts by recruiting parents and informs parents via the parent portal about advisory matters. There was a safety incident where temporary supervision of the outdoor playground was lacking because a gate was left open while a staff member went inside. The advice to the municipality is not to enforce due to the fulfilled obligation to make efforts and the alternative involvement of parents.
