About this care
Welcome to Knutselkookclub Soendaplein, our cheerful cooking after-school care located at Soendaplein 39 in Haarlem. We provide after-school care for up to 20 children aged 4 to 12. Our unique concept lets children prepare their own dinner. By seeing, feeling, tasting and smelling they playfully learn everything about cooking and healthy food.
Cooking is central, yet creativity is given plenty of room. Besides cooking a complete meal, children can join craft activities such as decorating cupcakes, making slime, mosaic work, decopatch and working with foam clay. Each activity is designed to let children discover new techniques and flavours and to boost their confidence in the kitchen.
Our pedagogical staff guide the children in small groups, ensuring personal attention. We work with fresh ingredients and pay close attention to food safety and hygiene. We also take dietary allergies or wishes into account; please mention them when registering.
Knutselkookclub Soendaplein has been registered in the National Childcare Register under number 238221581 since 24 January 2022 and is supervised by the GGD Kennemerland. We are open after school on school days and during school holidays. For more information or a tour you can email soendaplein@knutselkookclub.nl or call 06-41668064.Read more
GGD Inspection
Improvements needed
Inspection date: March 25, 2025
Strengths
- Hygiene practices: handwashing, product checks, temperature measurement using a digital thermometer
- Safety policy up to date: evacuation drill carried out and evaluated in early 2025
- Accident registration in place and known to staff
- Measures from formal instruction completed within the set timeframe
Shortcomings
- Expand attendance records to include children's arrival and departure times for emergency situations
- Arrange in-house emergency response (BHV) training for own staff; currently only available through another employer
- Carry out unannounced evacuation drill in accordance with policy (once per year)
Summary
On 25 March 2025, GGD Kennemerland conducted an unannounced inspection of the after-school care (BSO) Knutselkookclub Soendaplein (20 places, ages 4-13) in Haarlem. The follow-up investigation focused on compliance with a previously issued formal instruction and on safety and health policies. The location now meets all assessed requirements: cooperation and compliance are satisfactory, and policies regarding hygienic cooking, meal temperature measurement, evacuation drills, and accident registration are being properly implemented. No violations remain. The GGD advises the municipality not to take enforcement action.
