About this care
Welcome to Kindertuin NSO in Westzaan! We provide small-scale after-school care in our unique location: a former fire station at Zuideinde 22. Children aged 4 to 12 find a warm and safe place here where they can play, discover and relax after school.
Our care facility is intentionally small-scale with a maximum of 22 children, allowing us to give each child the personal attention they deserve. We are open on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, 50 weeks per year. This means we are ready to care for your child after school during most school weeks.
The former fire station offers a special and inspiring environment for the children. The spaces are designed for playing, crafting and relaxing. We find it important that children feel at home here and have the space to be themselves.
As after-school care, we focus entirely on the needs of school-age children. We understand that this age group has different needs than younger children and fully align our activities and guidance accordingly. Our pedagogical staff are ready to give the children a wonderful afternoon.Read more

Kindertuin NSO in Westzaan is an after-school care (BSO) for a maximum of 20 children aged 4 to 13 years. During the annual unannounced inspection on 9 February 2026, the themes of pedagogical climate and staff and groups were assessed. The pedagogical practice meets the requirements well: staff provide emotional security, stimulate personal and social competencies, and work according to clear routines. There were two shortcomings for which a recovery offer was made: the pedagogical policy plan insufficiently described how children are settled into a new base group and which tasks interns and trainees have. It was also not transparent how the mandatory hours of the pedagogical policy worker were distributed across the organization's three childcare centers. The holder resolved both shortcomings before 9 March 2026. The Municipal Health Service (GGD) advises the municipality of Zaanstad not to take enforcement measures.
