The Municipal Health Service (GGD) inspected Freekids BSO Zaanse Helden on 14 April 2026 following violations identified during the annual inspection of 6 November 2025. This follow-up investigation examined three areas: pedagogical climate, safety and health, and accommodation. The location moved to the first floor of the De Ruyter residential tower in Zaandam in late October 2025 and accommodates up to 83 children aged 4 to 12 years. All three investigated areas now meet statutory requirements. The previously identified shortcomings concerned an incomplete pedagogical work plan (no concrete description of outdoor space usage), an incomplete risk assessment (missing measures for outdoor spaces and supervision), and accommodation issues (unsafe fencing, inaccessible non-adjacent outdoor space, and insufficient indoor space). The provider has resolved all shortcomings: the fencing has been raised and fitted with anti-climb mesh, outdoor play procedures have been documented, and the kitchen is now structurally used when more than 77 children are present. The GGD advises no enforcement action.
