About this care
BSO Sterrenrijk is located on the ground floor of the school building at Richard Feynmanstraat 3 in Almere. We provide before-school care from 7:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and after-school care from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Our location features a spacious, natural outdoor play area with a playhouse, bike trail and mud kitchen. Together with primary school De Verwondering we form a close-knit team in which childcare and education seamlessly connect. Our pedagogical staff are ready every day to offer children a safe and challenging place where they can play, discover and unwind after a school day. We work from the idea that the environment is the third teacher: our group rooms and outdoor area are designed to invite children to explore and engage in adventurous play. Sustainability and nature experience are central; we regularly go out into the green surroundings of Nobelhorst and pay attention to ecological awareness. During study days and school holidays we remain open, so parents can always rely on us.Read more
GGD Inspection
Violations
Inspection date: March 27, 2026
Strengths
- Positive atmosphere and good wellbeing of children
- Sufficient staffing with appropriate staff-to-child ratio
- Good outdoor play opportunities and ample time spent outside
- Staff are engaged and familiar with the pedagogical policy
- Every child has a mentor
Shortcomings
- Strengthen the connection between pedagogical policy and daily practice
- Improve the layout of indoor spaces so that they are more challenging for all age groups
- Ensure that play crates and working methods are clearly described in the location-specific policy
Violations
- Pedagogical policy and practice do not align: children do not have free play choice, play crates are not visibly applied as described in the policy, and children are not allowed to use school materials, which is confusing
- Indoor spaces are insufficiently appropriately arranged: no age-appropriate play corners, limited and unchallenging play materials, furniture may not be moved, insufficient free play space, and insufficiently stimulating for development during bad weather
Summary
BSO Sterrenrijk De Verwondering in Almere was inspected on 27 March 2026. The location does not meet all assessed requirements. Two violations have been identified: the pedagogical policy does not align with practice (children do not have free play choice, play crates are absent in practice) and the indoor spaces are insufficiently appropriately arranged for children aged 4-12 years (no play corners, limited play materials, furniture may not be moved). Positive aspects include the good atmosphere, children's wellbeing, sufficient staffing, and good outdoor play opportunities. The holder has submitted a response in which they partially acknowledge the findings, but states that play crates do exist and that the outdoor after-school care (BSO) vision has not been fully taken into account. The Municipal Health Service (GGD) advises enforcement.
