About this care
Welcome to daycare De Basis, located at Zeelandsedijk 10B in Volkel. Our small-scale daycare provides a homely and safe environment where children aged 0 to 4 can develop through play, learning and discovery. We work with two vertical groups of a maximum of 13 children, so each child receives the undivided attention they deserve.
Our pedagogical staff guide children in a natural and playful way. We believe in the power of free play and offer development-oriented activities that match your child's developmental stage. Our fenced outdoor playground with chickens, vegetable garden and two ponies forms an important part of our daily activities. The location borders Zie Zoo animal park, which children can visit for free under supervision.
We offer bilingual childcare, where Dutch and English are spoken using the 'one person, one language' method. This way children learn a second language through play from an early age.
We work with the Kiki VVE program, a pre-school educational program specifically designed for small-scale childcare from 0 to 4 years. For older children there is a 3+ group that prepares them for primary school.
We fully unburden parents: diapers, wipes, formula feeding, fruit and drinks are all included. A warm meal is available for a small fee. Our flexible care options with five different packages make it possible to tailor care to your specific needs.

Daycare center (kinderdagverblijf/KDV) De Basis in Volkel provides care for a maximum of 13 children aged 0-4 years in one core group. During the inspection on 25 November 2025, it was found that the location meets all quality requirements, after three violations had previously been identified. These violations concerned the pedagogical policy (insufficient concrete description of activities outside the core group and multilingual care), staffing (insufficient staff-child ratio and unqualified staff member), and the safety and health policy (insufficient hygiene protocol and backup supervision arrangement). The holder made use of recovery offers and all violations have since been resolved. The pedagogical practice was assessed positively: children show wellbeing, receive sufficient attention, and are stimulated through play. The accommodation is safe and sufficiently spacious. Parents are well informed and there is an active parent committee. The municipality is advised not to take enforcement action.
