About this care
Welcome to Kinderdagverblijf Het Hummeltje, located in a quiet residential area at Breedweer 2A in Koog aan de Zaan. We provide day care for children from 8 weeks to 4 years in one homely, vertical group of up to 14 children per day. Thanks to our small scale we can give every baby, toddler and pre-schooler the personal attention they deserve.
Our space is carefully laid out: a homely group room full of challenging toys, a cosy sleeping area where children can rest peacefully and a changing room with two child toilets. Inside you will find both high cots and baby toys for the very youngest as well as plenty of space and challenging materials for the toddlers. The spacious outdoor play area offers plenty of opportunities to climb, dig in the sand and discover nature; we go outside every day as long as the weather allows.
At Het Hummeltje at least three qualified pedagogical staff members and one intern work together to provide a safe, warm environment every day. We follow a fixed daily structure that respects the individual rhythm of the babies and the group activities for the toddlers and pre-schoolers. Eating together, tidying up, making agreements and of course playing are central. In this way the children learn social and preparatory skills in a playful manner, ensuring a smooth transition to primary school.

Practical info
Settling in
At Het Hummeltje, we believe it's important that your child has a calm, gentle start. Approximately two to four weeks before the start date, an introductory meeting takes place. This is followed by a settling-in period of at least 3 days, which is not charged for. Care is gradually built up, allowing your child to slowly get used to the group, the staff, and the daily routine. Het Hummeltje has a goodbye window to make parting easier.
Absence policy
If your child stays home for a day, we would like to know before 9:00 AM. We also appreciate it if you let us know your holiday dates in good time. Parents receive 2 extra days per year; the allocation is set out in the household rules.
Sick child policy
If your child is already ill at home in the morning, he or she does not come to Het Hummeltje. If your child becomes ill with us, we will contact you if they are visibly unwell, if your child indicates they are not feeling well, or if they have a fever of 38 degrees or higher. Children with contagious infections such as diarrhoea, mumps, chickenpox, rubella, fungal infections, and head lice may not be brought in.
