About this care
Welcome to Kindercentrum ‘De Groene Helden’ at Hoofdweg 15 in Balkbrug. Our green childcare concept keeps children outdoors almost all day: they sleep, eat and drink outside while exploring nature with all their senses. Our qualified staff guide children aged 0–4 in a rich outdoor environment where they pick berries, care for animals, go on morning walks, search for little creatures and even safely light fires. Nature is our classroom for discovery, experience, rest and energy release.
Our daily rhythm starts with free play from 7:00–9:00, followed by a music or yoga session. After drinks and a toilet break, free play continues until a guided activity at 10:30. At 11:30 the children share a meal, get changed and the youngest nap outdoors at 12:30. The afternoon offers another activity and closes with a snack and free play until 18:00.
We integrate Early Childhood Education (VVE), daily music or children’s yoga, self-reliance training and healthy nutrition. Childcare center 'De Groene Helden' in Balkbrug, part of Starseeds Gaia B.V., was inspected by GGD IJsselland on 14 April 2026. The unannounced annual investigation covered pedagogical climate, staff and groups, safety and health, and accommodation. All examined domains comply with the Childcare Act. The childcare center provides daycare (kinderdagverblijf/KDV), toddler care (peuteropvang), and after-school care (BSO) with 45 childcare places. The staff hold the correct qualifications, valid Certificates of Conduct (VOG), and there is a good staff-to-child ratio. The accommodation is spacious with sufficient indoor and outdoor space, with outdoor childcare playing an important role. No violations or areas for improvement were identified. The advice to the municipality of Hardenberg is: no enforcement action.
