About this care
Welcome to playgroup De Zonnestraaltjes, part of Royal Kids Home and located at Koggerwaard 1 in Capelle aan den IJssel. We welcome children aged 2 to 4 in two cosy, same-age groups. Our room is warmly and calmly furnished with plenty of wood and soft pastel colours, so every child feels at home right away.
We follow the VVE programme Uk en Puk, using themes such as “Achoo” or “Hospital” to stimulate language, numeracy and social skills through play. The home corner with kitchen and doll bed invites role play, while the construction corner with blocks and garage trains spatial insight and cooperation. In the reading corner children can quietly look at picture books or be read to. A themed corner changes with the current topic; real materials like empty packaging, bandages or doctor kits make play tangible and recognisable.
Outside we play on our own enclosed playground at the front of the school. A sandpit, climbing frame, bikes and balls provide motor challenges and fun. During outdoor play a permanent pedagogical worker is always present and the gate remains closed to guarantee safety.
Our day starts at 08:30 with a joint moment; afterwards children freely choose from the activities. Around 10:00 there is a snack with fruit and a drink. At 11:30 we tidy up together and close with a circle in which we look back on the morning. Pick-up is possible until 11:45. We offer both full and half days, depending on what suits your family best.

Summary
The annual inspection of 3 February 2026 at daycare center De Zonnestraaltjes in Capelle aan den IJssel presents a positive picture. The toddler group, located at primary school PCB Horizon, provides early childhood education to 13 children aged 2 to 4 years following the Uk & Puk 2.0 approach. All assessed quality requirements were found to be in order: pedagogical policy, early childhood education, deployment of pedagogical policy staff member, certificates of conduct, qualification requirements, information to parents, parent committee, and complaint handling. The group is open 40 weeks per year with 16 hours of early childhood education per week. The pedagogical policy staff member is adequately deployed and staff members hold the required certificates and language proficiency level 3F. The provider is affiliated with the Childcare Disputes Committee and no written complaints have been submitted. This represents a recovery compared to the February 2024 inspection, when there were violations regarding qualification requirements and deployment of the pedagogical policy staff member for early childhood education, for which a warning was issued.
