About this care
KDV Paddington is located in two charming, former residential houses at Kapelstraat 2 in the centre of Bedum. Since 1 January 2010 we have been providing familiar and safe daycare for up to 40 children aged 0 to 4. Our site is divided into three age groups: a baby group, a toddler group and a pre-school group. Each group has its own homely space with play corners that invite exploration and play. The adjoining garden serves as a secure outdoor playground with plenty of challenges for every age.
We operate according to a clear pedagogical policy approved during the annual inspection by the GGD Groningen. Our pedagogical staff – all holding a relevant qualification and Certificate of Good Conduct – provide emotional safety every day, stimulate personal and social skills and convey positive values and norms. By using horizontal groups we can optimally follow and stimulate children's development within their own age category.
Parents can contact us for day care on weekdays. For information and registration please call Jolanda Bus or Annemiek van der Werf on 050 301 03 75 or email info@kinderopvangpaddington.nl.Read more
GGD Inspection
Violations
Inspection date: March 24, 2026
Strengths
- Pedagogical policy is implemented in accordance with guidelines, with attention to the four core pedagogical objectives
- Strong focus on the individual child; staff take time for conversations
- Children are encouraged to try things for themselves
- All staff members hold valid Certificate of Conduct (VOG) declarations and are registered in the persons register
- Sufficient staff deployed according to the correct child-to-staff ratio
Violations
- Four staff members had not demonstrated completion of the 'working with babies' training; LOI certificates did not meet collective labour agreement requirements or baby care training was missing from their diploma
- No written allocation of the pedagogical policy staff member/coach's hours across the daycare center (kinderdagverblijf/KDV) and after-school care (BSO) locations and between policy development and coaching
Summary
KDV Paddington in Bedum is a daycare center (kinderdagverblijf/KDV) for 40 children, divided across a baby, toddler, and preschool group. The annual unannounced inspection of 24 March 2026 presents a predominantly positive picture. The pedagogical climate meets all requirements: there is considerable attention for the individual child and staff encourage children to try things for themselves. The Certificates of Conduct (VOG), persons register, and staff-to-child ratios are also in order. There were two violations in the area of personnel: four staff members had not completed the mandatory 'working with babies' training (training requirements), and the deployment of the pedagogical policy staff member was not documented in writing across the daycare center (kinderdagverblijf/KDV) and after-school care (BSO) locations. Both violations have been resolved through a recovery offer. The holder has received revised certificates and drawn up an allocation of coaching hours. The advice to the municipality is: no enforcement action.
