Welcome to IKC St Walfridus, the integrated children’s centre in the heart of Bedum where childcare, pre-school and primary education blend seamlessly. Our day-care unit welcomes up to 16 children aged 0–4 in a warm, secure environment tailored to each child’s developmental stage. Rooted in a Catholic identity and guided by the core values of Dalton education—collaboration, independence and reflection—we already apply these principles to our youngest children. They are given space to explore at their own pace while being professionally supported by our qualified pedagogical staff. When the time comes, children experience a smooth transition from day-care to our primary school. Summary
The Municipal Health Service (GGD) inspection report of 16 June 2026 concerns a follow-up investigation into IKC St Walfridus in Bedum, a toddler daycare (peuteropvang) for a maximum of 16 children aged 3 to 4 years. The investigation focused on the item 'parental rights', which was not met during the annual inspection of 16 February 2026. The earlier investigation had found that parents had been insufficiently involved in proposed advisory matters, in particular a rate change. The organisation had switched to a 'Primeniusraad' but had not followed the correct procedure. This follow-up investigation found that the provider has since taken sufficient steps: parents have been informed by email about after-school care (BSO) and a change in the pedagogical policy plan, and an alternative parent consultation body has been set in motion. The legal requirement is now being met. No violations have been identified.
