About this care
Welcome to KC de Schakel, our daycare center at Langelaar 24 in Veenendaal. We are part of Kwink, an organization with over 10 locations in Veenendaal that believes children who feel comfortable develop optimally. At KC de Schakel, we provide daycare for babies and toddlers aged 0 to 4 years.
Our location is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 6:30 PM. We work with horizontal groups: babies (group Kikker, 0-2 years) and toddlers (group Dolfijn, 2-4 years) are cared for in separate age groups. This creates a safe and development-focused environment that meets the specific needs of each child.
We work thematically using the Uk & Puk method, where puppet Puk guides children in their development through play. Our outdoor space has a dedicated area for babies, crawlers and toddlers with playground equipment, an outdoor kitchen, sandbox, and space to ride bikes. The youngest children have a baby garden with outdoor sleeping cribs. We also have a gymnasium where toddlers receive gym class once a week from a specialized instructor.
Our activities focus on child development and include music, creative activities, language development, sports and movement, and nature experiences. We work with themes that connect to children's world of experience.
For the youngest ones, we provide diapers, wipes, bottle feeding (Nutrilon/Kruidvat brands included) and warm meals. We accommodate allergies and dietary requirements. Children sleep in quiet bedrooms, respecting each child's natural sleep rhythms.

Summary
The unannounced annual inspection visit on 5 June 2025 to daycare center (kinderdagverblijf/KDV) KC de Schakel in Veenendaal (44 places, 3 groups for ages 0-4) shows that the location meets the Childcare Act across all examined domains – pedagogical climate, staff & groups, and safety & health – (following recovery). The pedagogical policy is complete, consistently implemented, and well-aligned with practice; the settling-in policy is careful and tailored. Staff provide emotional safety, acknowledge and value children, and use rituals and familiar materials. The domestic violence reporting protocol is present and known; only knowledge of the duty to report, consult, and file charges (M.O.A.) and the possibility of contacting the confidential inspector directly was insufficient. Following a recovery offer, the organization took immediate action: information added to the social map, staff instructed, and repetition scheduled in team meetings. There are no grounds for enforcement.
