About this care
Welcome to IKC De Schakel! Our child centre in the Westwijk district of Vlaardingen offers full-day childcare for children aged 0 to 4. We have an open admission policy: everyone is welcome, regardless of background, belief or origin. Social-emotional development is central to our approach: we teach children to make independent decisions, work together and take responsibility.
Our daycare has three fixed groups: baby group 'de Welpjes' (0-2 years), toddler group 'de Leeuwen' (2-4 years) and group 'de Poema's' (0-4 years). In each group we work thematically on children's development. Children learn through play with movement, crafts and games. Our pedagogical staff organise fun activities both indoors and outdoors.
Our 'internationalisation' theme comes to life through stories, songs and encounters, with respect for every culture, religion and way of life. We use a VVE programme (early childhood education) and IPC (International Primary Curriculum) as a basis for subject and creative learning.
