About this care
IKC De Horst is quietly located on the edge of the village of De Wijk. We are part of the Openbaar Primair Onderwijs De Wolden foundation, yet at our site on Postweg 43a we run our own day-care centre (KDV) for children aged 0 to 4. Here, childcare and development come together in one familiar environment.
For the very youngest we use a single, transparent hourly rate for both day-care and toddler play sessions. This lets you easily extend or shorten toddler play with extra day-care, giving parents maximum flexibility without the hassle of different rates.
Our KDV offers 64 places. We are officially registered and are inspected regularly by the Municipal Health Service (GGD). The inspection reports are available for everyone to view on our website, so you can see how we meet all statutory quality requirements.

Strengths
- Children receive a minimum of 960 hours of preschool education (VVE) from age 2.5
- All VVE-qualified staff hold the correct diplomas, certificates, and language proficiency at level 3F
- Group size and staff-child ratios are in order, including during temporary deviations
- Fixed core groups and assigned mentors for each child
- Spacious, safe indoor and outdoor play areas and separate sleeping room for babies

Summary
The unannounced annual inspection visit on 10 July 2025 to daycare center (kinderdagverblijf/KDV) IKC De Horst (Stichting Kindcentra Wolderwijs) in de Wijk shows that the location meets statutory quality requirements on virtually all aspects. There were two violations: the number of registered childcare places in the National Childcare Register (Landelijk Register Kinderopvang) did not match actual capacity (64 instead of 48), and the pedagogical policy plan contained incorrect information on group size and staffing deployment. Both violations were resolved through a recovery offer within the set timeframe; the provider immediately submitted a change request and updated the policy plan. Key strengths include the good preschool education (VVE), sufficiently qualified staff, stable core groups, safe and spacious accommodation, and a clear mentor system. The Municipal Health Service (GGD) advises the municipality of De Wolden not to take enforcement action.
