Het Nest

BSO Het Nest is located in Brede School ‘De Meerkant’ in Oostwold, together with day-care centre Bommes. We provide before-school, after-school and holiday care for children aged 4 to 13 who attend one of the schools within De Meerkant. The care is offered in vertical groups; children share spaces such as the hallway, group room, playroom, arts & crafts room and the outdoor playground. Our qualified staff pick the children up from school and guide them to the BSO areas. First we sit down together for a drink and a biscuit (on Wednesday and Friday afternoons we serve lunch). Afterwards the children largely decide how to spend the afternoon. Every day we offer activities linked to a current theme, but free play is equally important. Indoors you will find age-appropriate materials such as a dolls’ corner, computers with educational programmes, books, K’NEX, LEGO, Playmobil and Barbies. Older children can use the arts & crafts room or the classroom next to CBS De Lichtboei on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. Outside we have a large schoolyard with various play equipment. During school holidays we regularly organise excursions, starting from Het Nest or De Reuzen. After a long day at school, children need free time; therefore play and relaxation are central. Each child has a fixed mentor who maintains personal contact with the child and the parents. Parents can request care flexibly (at least 48 hours in advance) and only pay for the hours actually used, provided they cancel 24 hours beforehand. We believe every child is unique, with their own character, talents and temperament. We provide a safe, secure environment in which children receive love and care and can develop optimally. Our aim is flexible, tailor-made childcare for both children and parents.
