About this care
Welcome to daycare centre Het Fonteintje, located within Inclusive Child Centre De Fontein at IJsselmeerstraat 184 in Den Helder. As part of the Kopwerk Foundation, we provide care for up to 56 children aged 0 to 4 years. Our location has been officially registered in the National Childcare Register under number 181381217 since 17 August 2020.
At Het Fonteintje, we work according to a clear horizontal group structure, where babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers are cared for in separate age groups. This allows us to fully meet the specific needs and developmental stage of each child. Our pedagogical staff create a safe and familiar environment where children can develop optimally into creative, independent and social individuals.
We provide pre-school education (VVE), with extra attention to language development and social skills. Our activities are designed to stimulate curiosity and discover the world around them. Think of crafts, reading aloud, singing and learning through play. The natural garden and playgrounds around the childcare centre offer plenty of opportunities for outdoor play and discovery.
For the very youngest, we provide complete care: nappies, baby wipes and bottle feeding are included. We also take into account any allergies and special dietary requirements. Children are offered healthy snacks and bread meals. For rest and sleep, we have separate sleeping areas where children can sleep in their own familiar rhythm.
Our location is well secured with an access system that is only accessible to parents and carers. We work closely with primary school De Fontein and other partners within the Inclusive Child Centre, ensuring a smooth transition to primary education. Parents are actively involved in their child's development and we are open to questions and consultation.

Strengths

- Qualification requirements: the primary school teacher and the Parlan employee do not meet the definition of qualified staff under the Childcare Act (not paid by the holder, no contract)
- Stability of childcare: children are placed in multiple core groups without correct written documentation of a fixed core group and pre-agreed period; at Peuterschool Fonteintje 2, the group composition does not meet the core group requirement due to the pilot intake group
- Safety and health policy: children are able to stand up from high chairs despite fastened harnesses; hands are not washed before eating; breast milk is stored at 8°C (maximum 4°C required); refrigerator lacks a thermometer; staff are unaware of correct refrigerator temperatures
Summary
The Municipal Health Service (GGD) inspection report dated 31 March 2026 for childcare location Het Fonteintje in Den Helder presents a mixed picture.
