Harlekijn Day-care Centre is located on the same premises as primary school De Brakken at Burgemeester Sweensplein 7 in Rijen. We provide care for children aged 0 to 4 in vertical groups, allowing children of different ages to play and learn together. This set-up encourages social development: the youngest observe the older children, while the toddlers proudly demonstrate their new skills. Our location works closely with the primary school and the playgroup located in the same building, creating one continuous learning and development line from baby to toddler and beyond. We use the Early Childhood Education programme ‘Doen, praten en bewegen’ (Act, talk and move) by the CED Group. With this programme we monitor and stimulate babies and toddlers in language, social-emotional and motor development. Each child is assigned a First Responsible Pedagogical Employee (EVP) who pays extra attention to the child’s development and is the contact person for parents. Inside, everything is bright, spacious and safely arranged. The group rooms have large windows and fresh colours, giving children the space to explore. Outside we have our own playground with a sandpit, bikes and a separate corner where even the very youngest can play safely. We regularly take trips to playground De Klokhuis, do some shopping on Euterpeplein or visit petting zoo Vosheuvel – cuddling the animals is always a favourite. Our team consists of permanent, qualified pedagogical staff with an SPW-3 diploma and a valid BHV/First Aid certificate. Continuity and recognition are very important to us; therefore, our colleagues work fixed days.
