About this care
Eigen&Wijzer Day-care JKC De Wiekslag is located at Dwarswyk 346 in Drachten and forms part of the Jenaplan Child Centre De Wiekslag. We provide day-care for up to 32 children from 0 to 4 years old in a homely, secure setting. Our qualified pedagogical staff guide every child at his or her own pace, following the Eigen&Wijzer vision: children develop in their own way and thus become wiser every day.
Pre-school education (VE) is central to our programme. We use recognised developmental programmes that connect with young children’s world of experience. Extra attention is given to language and speech development, allowing children to build a solid foundation for their future school career while they play. The groups are horizontally structured: babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers are cared for separately, enabling us to tailor care and activities precisely to your child’s age and developmental stage.
Our location has been registered in the National Child-care Register since 25 November 2022 under number 170371335, which means parents can apply for child-care allowance. We operate under the supervision of GGD Fryslân and meet all national quality standards. For questions or to arrange a visit, please contact the main Eigen&Wijzer office.Read more

Violations
- One early childhood education professional did not have proof of mastering the sub-skills reading and listening at 3F level (third consecutive finding)
Summary
The annual inspection by GGD Fryslân of Eigen&Wijzer KDV JKC De Wiekslag in Drachten shows a predominantly positive picture, with one recurring bottleneck. The location provides childcare (0-4 years), toddler care and after-school care (BSO) for 32 places, following the Jenaplan and Emmi Pikler vision. The pedagogical climate, staffing, safety policy and reporting procedures all comply with legal requirements. The pedagogical practice is characterized by sensitive, responsive and challenging caregiving. However, one professional in the toddler group did not hold the required 3F certificate for the reading and listening components. This is the third consecutive time this violation has been identified; it was also the case in 2024 and 2025. The holder took immediate action: the staff member was registered for the missing components and temporarily no longer deployed to the early childhood education group. In the statement of view, the holder reports that the staff member has since successfully completed the assessment.
