About this care
Welcome to Dikkertje Dap Charlois, our small-scale childcare location at Sliedrechtstraat 62-66 in Rotterdam. As part of the Van Veldhuizen Foundation, we have been providing specialized Childcare Plus for children aged 1 to 4 years for 60 years.
Our Charlois location is special: we work with one close-knit group of maximum 10 children. This small-scale setup allows us to provide intensive, personal attention to each child and family. We specifically focus on families where the carrying capacity and carrying load are often out of balance, which means we provide extra support where needed.
We offer preschool education (VE), using our own developed programs such as 'Plus in the Square' and 'Together for Language'. Our spaces are calmly arranged to give children the opportunity to feel safe and secure. Our highly educated pedagogical staff is ready to optimally guide each child's development together with parents and, if necessary, with assistance.

Summary
The annual inspection by GGD Rotterdam-Rijnmond on 2 March 2026 shows that Dikkertje Dap Charlois childcare center of Van Veldhuizen Stichting meets all checked quality requirements. The location provides plusopvang (enhanced care) to 10 vulnerable children aged 0-4 years with early childhood education through Uk & Puk. The pedagogical practice is sensitive and responsive, with good developmental stimulation. The deployment of qualified early childhood education staff, previously a violation in July 2025, has now been resolved. No new violations were identified. The safety and health policy is up to date, with several points for attention regarding improving visibility for parents and the backup care arrangement. The municipality of Rotterdam is advised not to take enforcement measures.
