About this care
BSO de Ruimte is located at Overboslaan 28-A in Heemstede and offers after-school care for children aged 4 to 7. Our spacious indoor areas and large green outdoor playground give children the literal space to be themselves and explore who they are.
Every afternoon starts with a warm welcome and a healthy snack. Children then choose their own activities. There is always something to discover: in the construction corner, the craft table, the reading nook or outside on the playground. We offer a varied program where relaxation and challenge go hand in hand. Through play, children learn to cooperate, make choices and develop their talents.
Our qualified pedagogical staff provide a safe, homely atmosphere where every child feels seen and valued. We work closely with local primary schools to ensure a smooth transition from school to after-school care.
When a child turns 7, they move on to BSO De Satelliet, our location specially designed for older children. This way, our guests grow up in an environment that continuously matches their stage of development.

Strengths
- Pedagogical policy is up-to-date and implemented in practice
- All staff (including temporary workers) hold a Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG) and are correctly registered

- Safety and health policy is current, with monthly refresher protocols and two quality evenings per year

Summary
BSO De Ruimte in Heemstede (48 places) received its annual unannounced Municipal Health Service (GGD) inspection on 23 October 2025. The inspection team assessed the pedagogical climate, staffing matters, and safety & health. The location meets all assessed legal requirements: the pedagogical policy is up-to-date and correctly implemented, all staff hold a Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG) and are properly registered, play equipment is inspected annually, there is always a first aid-trained adult present, and the safety policy is up-to-date and actively observed within the team. However, the inspection found that one staff member had insufficient knowledge of the duty to consult and report under the Reporting Code (Meldcode); this will be discussed again with the team in November 2025. Previous shortcomings (2022-2024) have been resolved through recovery offers. The municipality is advised not to take enforcement measures.
