About this care
At De Morgenster, our anthroposophical daycare center (kinderdagverblijf/KDV), we welcome children from three months to four years old in a safe and stimulating environment. Our pedagogical philosophy is rooted in anthroposophy, which helps us offer a contemporary and fresh approach to childcare. We believe in the power of shared care and mutual trust, and we strive to create a place where children can discover, do, observe and dream.
Our activities are carefully tailored to the needs of young children. We offer structured learning, outdoor play, music and movement, and arts and crafts. All of this is aimed at developing motor skills, speech, imagination and joy. The toys and materials we use are mainly made of wood or other sustainable materials, contributing to a healthy and safe play environment.
Nutrition is an important aspect of our care. All our food is purely organic, meaning we only use the finest ingredients for the children's meals. We have created a calm and safe environment where children can move freely and develop in a rhythm of peace and joy. At De Morgenster, we ensure that every child is given the space to grow and become who they are.Read more
GGD Inspection
Violations
Inspection date: May 11, 2026
Strengths
- Pedagogical climate fully meets the requirements
- Staff communicate respectfully at eye level with a calm, clear tone
- Children's autonomy is respected and modelling behaviour is used consciously
- Sufficient staffing levels with stable group composition and fixed mentor relationships
- All Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG) records and person registrations are valid and up-to-date
Shortcomings
- Ensure demonstrable and structural efforts to establish a parent committee, including verbal recruitment during intake
- Publish the most recent Municipal Health Service (GGD) inspection report on the website in a timely manner
Violations
- One staff member does not meet the mandatory Dutch language requirement at 3F level (Article 1.50 paragraphs 1 and 2 of the Childcare Act)
- The most recent Municipal Health Service (GGD) inspection report has not been published on the website (Article 1.54 paragraphs 2 and 3 of the Childcare Act)
- Insufficient demonstrable efforts to establish a parent committee (Article 1.58 paragraphs 1 and 2 of the Childcare Act)
Summary
Daycare center (kinderdagverblijf/KDV) De Morgendauw in Zutphen, part of Stichting De Morgenster, provides anthroposophical childcare for 16 children aged 2.5 to 4 years. The annual inspection shows a largely positive picture with a good pedagogical climate, but identifies two shortcomings. The pedagogical practice aligns well with the policy: staff communicate respectfully at eye level, respect children's autonomy, and work from the principle of imitation. Group size, staffing levels and stability meet the requirements, with fixed day-part combinations and two permanent staff members. Two violations were identified: one staff member does not yet meet the mandatory Dutch language requirement at 3F level, and the most recent Municipal Health Service (GGD) inspection report (from November 2025) has not been published on the website. Efforts to establish a parent committee are also insufficiently demonstrable, although the holder states they have made calls for this. The holder took immediate action by enrolling the staff member in a language training course.
