Welcome to De Kleine Wereld Mauritskade! Our daycare centre is located in a modern and attractive building right behind the well-known Dappermarkt and diagonally opposite the Tropenmuseum. The location breathes the cultural atmosphere of Amsterdam-East and offers a warm, homely environment where children from 0 to 4 years can develop safely.
Inside we have atmospheric, bright group rooms with large windows that create an inviting character. The furnishings are calm and warm, so children feel comfortable and are not over-stimulated. Each group has separate bedrooms with a bed for every child. Around the building there is a private outdoor playground with natural elements such as an outdoor kitchen, sand play area and plenty of space to cycle. For the very youngest there is a separate outdoor corner where they can play undisturbed.
We work with vertical groups, in which children from 0 to 4 years play and learn together. Our pedagogical staff are ready with personal attention and guide the children in their development. We take daily walks in the immediate area, visiting places such as the Dappermarkt and the Oosterpark. We believe it is important that children discover the outside world and learn from their environment.

Strengths

Summary
On 3 February 2025, the Municipal Health Service (GGD) conducted an unannounced annual inspection at daycare center (kinderdagverblijf/KDV) De Kleine Wereld Mauritskade (Amsterdam, 24 places, 2 core groups). The pedagogical policy is clearly documented and the practice demonstrates predominantly responsible daycare: children receive music and arts & crafts activities, one-on-one attention is provided, and comfort is offered for sleep difficulties. All staff are registered in the PRK, hold appropriate qualifications, and meet the language requirement. During the visit, however, a permanent staff member called in sick, leaving the Manen group with one professional for six children from 9:20-10:40 a.m.; the staffing ratio was therefore insufficient. The location experiences structural staff shortages on Mondays (two open vacancies), which are currently being filled with self-employed workers (ZZP'ers). Following the inspection, the holder submitted a recovery plan with four steps for acute replacement and a March 2025 roster showing sufficient daily staffing. The violation has thereby been resolved and the supervisory authority advises the municipal executive not to impose measures.
