About this care
At Kindercentrum De Kleine Houtrakkers, we offer a warm and safe environment for children from 0 to 4 years old. Since 2010, we have been active in Haarlem and welcome many children each year to our small-scale, family-oriented daycare center (kinderdagverblijf/KDV).
Our pedagogical vision focuses on the development of each child. We work in vertical groups, which means children of different ages play and learn together, similar to a large family. This promotes social interaction and emotional development. Our experienced staff are always present to guide and support children in their development.
We provide daily healthy meals, prepared by our own cook, and encourage outdoor play to support children's physical development. Activities such as music, movement, and arts and crafts are essential for children's cognitive growth. We believe that learning through play is the best way to prepare children for primary school. Summary
GGD Kennemerland conducted an unannounced annual inspection on 5 March 2026 at daycare center (kinderdagverblijf/KDV) De Kleine Houtrakkers KDV Zijlweg in Haarlem. The location provides care for 41 children aged 0–4 years. The inspection focused on pedagogical climate and staff and groups. The location meets all assessed quality requirements. The pedagogical policy was not yet fully up to date at the time of the investigation due to a change in group composition effective 1 December 2025, but this was addressed and adjusted immediately during the investigation. Sufficient qualified staff are deployed and the pedagogical practice provides sound care. No violations were identified.
