About this care
Welcome to Dak Acacia, our after-school care (BSO) located at Acaciastraat 139A in The Hague. We are part of Dak kindercentra, a social childcare organization that has been offering children in the neighbourhood a safe and inspiring place to grow for over 40 years. At Dak Acacia, children aged 4 to 12 come together after school to play, explore and just be themselves.
No two afternoons are the same at our location. With space for up to 126 children, we offer a creative studio, a theatre stage and plenty of room to play both indoors and outdoors. Children are encouraged to discover their talents, whether that’s through dance, music, gardening or simply enjoying a quiet moment with a drawing or a game. We believe in giving children the freedom to choose what they need each day.
Our team of trained and experienced pedagogical staff welcomes every child with warmth and curiosity. They organise activities based on the children’s interests – from guitar lessons and cooking workshops to theatre and outdoor adventures. We also maintain close cooperation with local primary schools, including the Bavinckschool, to ensure a smooth transition from school to after-school care.

Strengths
- Pedagogical practice aligns with the stated policy; children are able to choose their own play activities
- All assessed individuals are correctly registered in the Childcare Personnel Register (Personenregister Kinderopvang)
- All childcare professionals hold appropriate vocational qualifications and meet the IKK language requirement
- The pedagogical policy officer is sufficiently deployed for coaching of childcare professionals
- Safety and health policy is up to date, documented in writing, and continuously evaluated
- At least one staff member with a valid paediatric first aid certificate is always present
- Parents are well informed via the website, parent portal, and location
Violations
- No parent committee has been established, despite the location caring for more than 50 children per week (Article 1.58(1) Childcare Act). This is a repeat offense; the same violation was also identified on 17 July 2023, 18 June 2024, and 8 January 2025.
Summary
Dak Acacia is an after-school care (BSO) in 's-Gravenhage with 126 places for children aged 4–12, part of Stichting DAK kindercentra. The annual inspection by GGD Haaglanden presents a predominantly positive picture. The location meets requirements in the areas of pedagogical climate, staff and groups, and safety and health. However, one repeated violation has been identified: the location does not have a parent committee, which is mandatory when caring for more than 50 children. This was previously identified in 2023, 2024, and 2025. The holder has undertaken various recruitment efforts, but without success. No recovery offer has been made. The GGD advises no enforcement action.
