Welcome to Dagopvang Calimero Kidz in Winsum, located on the peaceful grounds of Praktijkonderwijs Terra College at Onderdendamsterweg 43a. Surrounded by apple trees, we offer daycare for up to 58 children aged 0-4 years, divided into four horizontal age groups: baby group (0-1.5 years), toddler group (1-2.5 years), pre-school group (2-3.5 years) and pre-school+ group (2.5-4 years).
Our pedagogical vision is inspired by Emmi Pikler. We see every child as competent and give them space to move freely and discover at their own pace. Four pillars are central: the competent child, respectful care moments with undivided attention, free movement development, and rest & routine. Through careful observation and connecting with the child's world, we create a secure attachment base.
The baby group has its own sheltered garden with playhouses where children can sleep outside. The toddler and pre-school groups share a large indoor play area. Children play outside daily in the spacious garden and visit the animals on the grounds: goats, sheep, chickens and rabbits. The centre is open from 07:00 to 18:00, with half-day sessions of at least 5 hours. We work with a fixed daily rhythm and sufficient rest moments.

Summary
Calimero Kidz daycare center (kinderdagverblijf/KDV) in Winsum was subject to further investigation on 9 July 2026 following shortcomings identified during the annual inspection of 18 March 2026. The investigation focused on personnel and groups. The location provides care for 58 children across four age groups. This further investigation found that all assessed quality requirements have been met, including declarations of conduct (VOG), qualification requirements, staff-to-child ratios, and stability of care. Previously identified violations concerned the absence of baby group training for two staff members in the baby group, incorrect deployment of BBL students and interns (less than 50% qualified staff), and insufficient staff numbers in the baby group on 9 March 2026. A fixed caregiver was also absent from the baby group at certain times. These shortcomings have been resolved through a recovery offer. The provider has drawn up an improved induction plan for new staff.
