About this care
A stone’s throw from Haarlem-Centraal station, on Sint Jorisveld, you will find CompaNanny Ripperda III. This after-school care centre is located on the historic grounds of the former Ripperda Cavalry Barracks. Three locations, including Ripperda III, are grouped around a large central lawn and together provide a safe and stimulating environment for 50 children aged 4–12.
We run horizontal groups: Junior BSO (4–6 years) and BSO Club (7–12 years). Every day our qualified pedagogical staff organise sports and games on the lawn and in our spacious rooms. In the open kitchen children prepare their own healthy lunches and snacks, often trying out new recipes. We pick up children from Ter Cleeff, Vrije School Kleverpark, De Werkschuit and De Ark.
During school holidays and study days the BSO is open all day. We arrange fun and educational trips to the forest, museums or playgrounds. All activities are tailored to each child’s developmental stage and are grounded in our mindful approach, fostering curiosity, cooperation and self-confidence.

Summary
The Municipal Health Service (GGD) Kennemerland conducted an unannounced annual inspection on 13 January 2026 at after-school care (BSO) CompaNanny Ripperda III in Haarlem, an after-school care facility for 51 children aged 4 to 13 years. The inspection identified serious shortcomings in the stability of care and the implementation of the pedagogical policy. Children were not cared for in fixed base groups as laid down, the group size was exceeded, and practice deviated from the work plan. Furthermore, the location manager was insufficiently physically present. Positive findings included that the safety policy regarding open water was sufficiently secured and that VOG registration was in order. Two recovery offer trajectories have been initiated, of which one (pedagogical work plan) has been assessed as rectified and one (stability and implementation of policy) still needs to be demonstrated during follow-up investigation.
