About this care
BSO Treebeek is an after-school care location run by Stichting Humankind in Brunssum. Located at Wijenweg 143C in the Treebeek district, we provide care for up to 44 children aged 4 to 13. Our spacious, homely setting is arranged into different activity corners so every child can choose what they feel like doing after school.
Freedom of choice is key at BSO Treebeek. Children can get creative in the art studio, build with Lego or K’nex in the construction corner, play with dolls in the puppet area, or simply hang out and chat in the lounge corner. We also organise regular music sessions and sports & games such as football and disco parties. Building huts in the outdoor space is another favourite. We encourage children across all areas of development – motor, emotional, creative and intellectual – but nothing is compulsory; it is their free time after all.
BSO Treebeek works closely with De Vlindertuin primary school, which is within walking distance. We pick the children up after school and bring them to our location. During school holidays we are open all day and offer a varied programme full of trips, creative workshops and sports clinics. Our experienced pedagogical staff provide a safe, familiar environment where every child can be themselves and discover new things.

Summary
GGD Zuid-Limburg conducted an unannounced annual inspection at after-school care (BSO) Treebeek in Brunssum on 29 April 2026. The after-school care (BSO), part of Humankind, accommodates up to 55 children aged 4 to 13 years. The inspection assessed the pedagogical climate, staff and groups, and safety and health. All assessed areas met the statutory quality requirements. The pedagogical policy is discussed in team meetings and aligns with practice. Certificate of conduct (VOG) declarations are in order and staff are properly registered in the childcare personnel register. The safety and health policy is up to date and staff are familiar with and apply the policy well. There is always someone present with a valid pediatric first aid certificate. The domestic violence reporting protocol and mandatory reporting obligations are known to staff. No areas for improvement or violations were identified. The previous inspection in February 2025 was also completed without special circumstances. In 2023, there was a recovery offer for stability of the childcare provision, which was successfully followed up.
