About this care
BSO Koala is a beautiful after-school care facility in Assen, located at Tuinstraat 3. As part of Stichting SKID Kinderopvang, we provide care for up to 70 children aged 4 to 12 years. Our location is EKO-certified and exclusively uses 100% organic food.
We work with horizontal groups, ensuring plenty of attention for age-appropriate toys and activities. Children can play in our large, secure garden with a huge sandbox. The location offers flexible childcare options, tailored to the needs of parents and children.
As a BSO, we focus entirely on after-school care for school-going children. We provide a familiar place where children can relax after school, play, and discover new things. GGD Drenthe conducted an unannounced incidental investigation on 2 September 2026 at after-school care (BSO) Koala in Assen, requested by operator SKID due to a desired modification of the number of childcare places from 70 to 55. The location offers anthroposophical after-school care (BSO) in the same building as the Vrije School (Free School). The inspection revealed that the requirements for modifications and pedagogical policy are met, but not the accommodation requirements for 55 children. With the current 186 m² of indoor play space, a maximum of 53 children can be accommodated, not 55. The outdoor space does meet requirements for 53 children. The operator acknowledges the findings. GGD advises the municipality to amend the registration to 53 places.
