Buitenschoolse opvang De Hooijbergh

Welcome to Buitenschoolse opvang De Hooijbergh, located at Tin 6 in Barsingerhorn, Hollands Kroon. Our small-scale, farm-style after-school care welcomes children aged 4 to 12 in a homely setting. The location has room for up to 75 children and has been operating since 1 January 2010. Outdoor life is at the heart of our programme. Children help care for our animals – pigs, goats, sheep, donkeys, horses, ponies, rabbits, guinea pigs and chickens – learning responsibility and respect in a playful way. They also maintain our vegetable garden: sowing, weeding, harvesting and then cooking a tasty meal from their own vegetables or picking a bouquet of flowers to take home. Everything is grown organically and with great enthusiasm. Our accommodation is a traditional Dutch barn with separate group rooms. Children aged 4 and up play in the Stolp group inside the barn. For children aged 7 and older we run two 7+ groups: one upstairs in the building called “De Hooiberg” and one in our cosy ‘Outdoor’ space. Each group has its own corners for building, dressing up, role play or board games. The older children also help prepare a healthy snack – always sociable and educational. When the weather allows we light a fire in the permanent fire bowl so that even in winter marshmallows or bread can be toasted. On rainy days it is no punishment to stay inside: there is always room to read quietly, do crafts or chat in the hammock or in the outdoor room. During school holidays children can play all day long. With a VSO contract your child can arrive from 07:00; with NSO only from 08:30. We organise extra outings and creative workshops to make every holiday unforgettable. We collect and return children to primary schools in the area and ensure a smooth transition from school to after-school care. Healthy food is important to us: fruit, vegetables and other responsible snacks are provided every day. In short, at BSO De Hooijbergh children enjoy an adventurous, safe and sociable time in which they develop through play and are happy to come back.
