Welcome to BSO Essezoom, located at Donge 7 in Nieuwerkerk aan den IJssel. We are part of Stichting Humankind and provide after-school care for primary-school children. Our location is open Monday to Friday from 07:30 to 18:30.
At BSO Essezoom we see the hours after school as a moment for children to relax from a long school day and, at the same time, to explore new things. Our pedagogical staff create a familiar environment in which every child feels safe and valued. We believe that free time offers opportunities to play, learn and grow at one’s own pace.

The Municipal Health Service (GGD) conducted an unannounced incidental inspection at after-school care (BSO) Essezoom in Nieuwerkerk aan den IJssel on 10 September 2026. The inspection took place following a change request by the provider, Stichting Humankind, to expand the number of childcare places from 60 to 65. The inspection focused on accommodation requirements, specifically the indoor and outdoor play areas. The indoor play area of 229.3 m² and the adjacent schoolyard serving as outdoor play space amply meet the legal standards for 65 children. The provider meets all assessed conditions.
