About this care
BSO De Trommelaar is part of KMN Kind & Co and provides after-school care for children aged 4 to 12. We are located in the De Trommelaar childcare center at Buurtsteeg 11 in Maarn, beautifully situated on the edge of a forest and next to the SVMM football fields. Our BSO has four groups, including one group that shares space with the toddler care, where our youngest BSO children play in a homely and playful environment.
Our location features a large, natural outdoor area and we also utilize the adjacent playground. The forest next to our building offers plenty of opportunities for fun scavenger hunts and nature activities. Throughout the year, we work with themes such as the children's cooking café, 'get active', art, and Christmas. Activities always align with these themes and range from baking, drama, and sports to crafts.
BSO De Trommelaar is open five days a week. All children from De Ladder primary school can attend. On Wednesdays and Fridays, children from De Meent and Merseberch primary schools are also welcome. For before-school care, children can use VSO De Meent on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:30 to 8:30 AM, after which our pedagogical staff take the children to school.

Summary
After-school care (BSO) De Trommelaar in Maarn received its annual Municipal Health Service (GGD) inspection on 30 September 2025. The location is compliant after a recovery offer with respect to requirements for 'pedagogical climate' and fully compliant with requirements for 'staff and groups'. Four violations were identified: the number of registered childcare places (LRK: 51) did not match the operational plan (52), the operational plan lacked a concrete description of base groups, on some days more than 10 children were placed in a group while the operational plan prescribed a maximum of 10, and consent forms for care in another group were incomplete. Following a recovery offer, the organization amended the pedagogical operational plan, adjusted group size to a maximum of 25 children per group, and introduced new, complete consent forms. The pedagogical practice was assessed positively: children experience emotional security, staff respond warmly and supportively. All staff hold required diplomas and Certificates of Conduct (VOG), and the staff register is in order. The GGD advises the municipality not to take enforcement measures.
