About this care
BSO de Talenten is located at Noormannenstraat 1 in Haarlem’s Slachthuis district. We are based in the community centre De Hamelink and work closely with primary school De Talenten, a broad-based school located in the same building. Since 1 February 2020 we have provided after-school care for up to 20 children aged 4 to 12.
Our BSO focuses on individual attention and a warm, homely atmosphere. We believe in close cooperation with the school and align our activities and guidance with each child’s daily experiences. This creates a continuous learning and development environment that connects with every child’s world.
Kinderopvang Midas, our parent organisation, has more than 22 years of experience in Haarlem and Vijfhuizen. Our qualified pedagogical staff receive regular training and are ready to support children with homework, play and relaxation after school. We do not use game consoles, but we do offer homework guidance and encourage outdoor activities whenever possible.
BSO de Talenten is officially registered in the National Childcare Register under number 115136964 and is supervised by GGD Kennemerland. This means parents can apply for childcare allowance for our services.Read more

Summary
GGD Kennemerland conducted an unannounced annual inspection on 21 May 2026 at after-school care (BSO) de Talenten in Haarlem, combined with an incidental inspection for an expansion request from 20 to 24 childcare places. The pedagogical practice meets requirements well: children feel safe, staff members are attentive and the atmosphere is calm. The accommodation is suitably equipped with sufficient space. However, two shortcomings were identified. The pedagogical coach did not yet have an appropriate diploma; this has been resolved through a commitment that a qualified coach will be deployed. In addition, the mentorship system was not implemented as per policy: children did not know who their mentor was. This was followed by an organisation-wide recovery offer. The policy has been amended and an action plan has been drawn up, but durable securing could not yet be tested. The change request was carelessly prepared; the parent committee was not involved in a timely manner and permits were not checked. The municipality is advised to register the expansion and not to enforce sanctions on the mentorship violation, given the recovery steps taken.
